Why is makeup so fin expensive? I want to buy MAC or CHANEL but they are soo expensive whats a more non expensive brand? Why do you buy such expensive makeup?
well, i for one, dont want cheap stuff on my face. I'll pay whatevr i need to pay to have my face looking radiant. you get what u pay for really, so the better the quality, the more it will cost. Why do you buy such expensive makeup?
Get the latest edition of ';Don't go to the Makeup Counter Without Me'; by Paula Beguin. She is right on. There is every known makeup and grooming product on the market there, and you would be surprised at what you'll learn about very expensive makeup, and the cheaper brands. Some cheaper ones ar actually better for you than some of the overpriced ones. Read the ingredients on both. The only thing the expensive brands offer are you're paying for the advertising, and fancy packaging.
good make up is made with skin nourishing ingredients, which are more expensive for the companies to buy thus more expensive for you to buy, plus brands like mac have more pigment in them, making them more expensive as well.
I think if your going to spend 9 dollars on a mediocre mascara why not spend $18 on a fabulous mascara?
Why buy a cake (ie) foundation that makes you break out, when you can buy make up that acutally helps to clear your skin?
why buy an eyeshadow that looks purple and when you put it on its light grey? Get the make up that gives you bang for your buck. I only buy make up I know for sure is going to do what i want, Sephora has spoiled me with the samples and ensures that no matter what i can know for sure that what i buy will be the best product for me!
You DON'T get what you pay for, unlike what almost everybody else has said. I've heard MAC can make people break out just as much as people say covergirl does. It just depends on the ingredients in the makeup, and the persons skin.
I would say the ONLY thing I would ever spend extra on is foundation. And thats a 'maybe if I have some extra money and want to give it a shot' thing. The most expensive I've ever used is Revlon, and it works really good.
The eyeliner I use right now only costs about $2, and it stays in place very well, even in rain.(prestige...I think I got it from riteaid.)
The only more expensive brand of foundation I've wanted to try is clinique, and really thats not THAT much more expensive than Revlon, I just haven't gotten around to getting any yet.
I am 30 and have tried nearly everything around.
The cheap ones in my opinion get a watery film over the top so require being stirred more frequently (the foundation that is), and then because of that get a lumpy texture. They also cause me to get breakouts and blotchy rashes.
With the cheaper brands you also have to use the testers at the shops to get the correct colour to match your skin type. Ewwwww
I would recommend going to a makeup artist at your mall, they can apply the colour that suits your skin type, so you are not wasting money buying ones where the colour ends up looking crappy on your skin. They also use clean tester brushes, and don't leave stuff out for people to stick their grubby fingers all over it. ( I would hate to get some eye infection from using testers) I love Dior make up. Goes on so flawlessly I get so many comments on it. Their eyeshadow is amazing! They have those 5 shadow packs that compliment each other, apply light colour to the inside and dark on the outside. The makeup artists can also teach you some neat little tricks for free using your new make up, and many have money back satisfation guarantees. I know Dior did.
I use MAC and Chanel, and the reason being is because it's simply better then drugstore make-up. It lasts longer, and is better for your skin. If you use cheap products on your skin, you can easily break out from it.
But, I would say if you have to buy drugstore make-up, stick to known brands such as Cover Girl, Loreal and Rimmel.
Stay away from cheap things like NYC and Wet n' Wild.
I use MAC foundation and powder because they are QUALITY products. Trust me, you can tell the difference between Covergirl and MAC. I also use Chanel eyeliner because its waterproof and doesn't go anywhere!
A good ';cheaper'; make up brand would be Mary Kay. But it sounds like you are looking for Maybelline or Almay...you can find them at Walmart. But you have to remember ';you get what you pay for';. My MAC powder and foundation me MONTHS.
i was a make-up artist for several years... and i can tell you that there is a big difference between the stuff you buy at walmart and the stuff you buy at a department store... if you want something to last longer... with more intensity then you need to get the good stuff... if you want to follow a trend and don't care... then get the cheap stuff...

There is great information on product reviews. I can only comment on eye make up that is less expensive. I use more expensive foundation and TM.
Well, some make up that is expensive works very well,is better quality, etc, etc. And that's why people buy it. But just coz it's expensive doesn't always mean it will work :P If you're looking for relatively cheap make up-- with staying power, i 'd suggest using N.Y.X.(go to CherryCulture.com),it's very good make-up and it's super cheap ^.^
variety is the answer, sometimes you can get the cheapest make up that works the best and then sometimes its the most expensive brand out there that is the only thing that works.
I buy my makeup at the dollar store or Big Lots and it's just as good as the name brand stuff. It's just cheaper because you don't have to pay for the models/celebrities/commercials/ads to endorse it.
You get what you pay for. If you pay for more expensive makeup the quality is usually higher.
I don't buy the expensive ones and I get good use out of mine though. I think it's overrated.
the only make up that is not expensive is the kind that tests on animals, i much rather spend a few extra dollars on cruelty free make up. like origins and physicians formula.
Maybe maybelline?
I have their mascara, fabulous (:
I think it would be the quality and all around better wear.. It also doesn't make my skin break out..
I do not know?
