Is the cheaper makeup as good as the expensive stuff?

I'm a really really cheap person, even before the recession I wouldn't buy a pair of jeans that cost more than 25-30 dollars. I'm just now getting into the makeup thing which I only wear when I go out. Does it matter what brand I use as long as it fits my style?

To break it down a little more, what's the difference between the $4 Mary-Kate and Ashley eyeshadow kit and a $40 higher brand eyeshadow kit?Is the cheaper makeup as good as the expensive stuff?
If you are using makeup just every now and then and if it feels comfortable on your skin and looks nice, there is nothing wrong with cheaper makeup. It's easier to experiment with and learn different styles. Once you start using it every day and you are sure what look do you want or what are your problem areas (if any), you can start looking for something more expensive. Just follow your guts.Is the cheaper makeup as good as the expensive stuff?
Yes, think so. I've never tried the really expensive make-up, can't afford it and think it's a waste of money.

I use boots natural collection, Collection 2000 and a little from Barry M and that's it.

Boots Natural Collection I have two lip glosses in raspberry ripple and sherbet fizz, a moisture lipstick called sweet pink, brown/black mascara and about six eye shadows.

Barry M is quite expensive, only have a little of their products, the green magical lipstick that changes to pink when put on lips, a pot of strawberry lip gloss, two body shimmers and a few dazzle dusts, loose eye shadows.

Collection 2000, is my main brand for make-up, black mascara, 3in1 foundation in cream, shine away compact powder in light, blush called trouble, lip glosses in petal and baby pink, dazzle me pots in sugarplum and magical, loose eyeshadow. solo eyeshadow called frosting, two hot looks nail polishes, six other nail polishes all in different colors of pink, one nail strengthener and two topcoats, one sparkly and one clear. think thats it.
I say invest in your face - cheaper is not that great. I used the lash blast mascara and literally my lashes fell off. I will never use that again. I used to use herbal essence drug store shampoo and my hair started falling out. I mean all these are chemicals that we use for beauty. The cheaper you get the worst they are for your skin. Try investing into Lancome, Sheis, and so on. I mean after all you only get your face once and you should take as much care as possible. You could also go around and get little samples from stores and use them.
Sometimes there isnt a difference at all, but most cosmetic companies don't throw on random prices. they're usually there for a reason%26amp; if you want to be cheaper, checkout medusas makeup.

i prefer this cosmetic brand over a lot of other ones, like mac for instance. though I love mac, it's too expensive.

%26amp; i know what you mean, im 13 %26amp; spend $100's on makeup %26amp; its ALL I have money to buy :(
u should try and stray away from the makeup geared towards young girls its usually crappy quality (falls off, doesnt show up ect.) like the makeup shold at Claires is complete crap for example. but u dont have to go and use your life savings on MAC and bare minerals just to look pretty! alot of the mainstream brands make very good products. get yourself a brush set (alot better then those spongey things) and start trying different things out! HIP is a great brand, maybelline mascaras are supposed to be the best! some stuff will work better then others so just expiriment!
for things like eye shadow, mascara and lip gloss, they are just as good as the expensive ones. but if you intend to use a foundation or concealer, i suggest shelling out the $$ and investing in a high quality one, because drugstore foundations tends to be filled with alot of junk that clogs your pores
KK i am a really cheap person too but it is ok to spend alittle more on make up because you get what you pay for the expensive brand works better, shows up more. i recommend using cover girl its not too costly but it will last longer than the cheap make up %26lt;3
eye shadow, mascara, blush, and all that.. no there really isnt much of a difference

but if you have acne or skin discoloration or scars then foundation wise.. yes I would go for clinique over NYC or Mary Kay

but if you dont then it really doesnt matter!
Really there is no difference. The only person that will know is you. Just be sure to apply it right. Make sure you use a primer on your eyes before putting on any eye shadow.
if they're both the same type of eyeshadow (ex: mineral, baked, powder etc.) then there really is no difference!! some are expensive just because of their name. i just buy based on the colors i need then compare prices
Expensive make-up has more pigment, the colors and more vibrant and they tend to last longer.
