I now have a skincare routine and wonder if i need to really go to high end cosmetics. Also. I see all the beauty videos and all the looks are dramatic. How do I get a complete everyday look? i'm not shy and love color, but want to look great not clownish. - MarkDo I need expensive makeup?
For everyday: work, errands, etc.
1] shape and fill in brows. Recommend you get professional shaping first.
2] curl and mascara lashes
3] a little blush or tinted moisturizer
4] lip color
5] earrings! I know they are not makeup, but they help your face look 'finished'.
6] concealer -
a] dab on a bit direct over red area
b] blend edges, not middle
c] gently brush translucent powder over area to set it
I have never used anything but drugstore makeup/skin care, and have great skin. [ Cover Girl, Maybelline, L'oreal, Revlon,
Aveeno, Olay, Neutrogena, Clearasil ]
These are the BASICS - get good at them, then you can branch out to:
a] liners - thin line along lashlines only! Start with a crayon pencil, like Cover girl or Physician's formula
b] shadows - a color that contrasts with your, but also complements [ not matches! ] your outfit.
Ex: if you have light blue eyes, wear greens; grays; aqua, smoke, teal, or navy blues; browns; or purples.Do I need expensive makeup?
I really love Mary Kay - the products are inexpensive (I used Clinique before MK) and for 5 years I am addicted to Mary Kay. Their colors are beautiful %26amp; they do not test on animals :-))
Make up and Colors:
You can go to www.marykay.com for a free virtual make over - upload your picture and play with makeup. Its Great! Suggestions for a natural look depends on your skin tone, etc. For Ivory/ Beige Skin you can use: Tawny lipstick %26amp; Starry Gloss; eyes: vanilla eyecicle with a hazelnut midtone and bronze eyeliner and black mascara (a must!) blush you can use a bronzer or Cinnamon Stick cheek Color.
Bronze Skin: eyes: Silky Caramel %26amp; Chocolate kiss with Deep Brown Eyeliner and Mascara; lips: Rich cocoa lipstick and beach bronze lip gloss; for the cheeks: bronzer or Bold berry cheek color.
You can buy products from Mary Kay consultants or from www.touchofpinkcosmetics.com - I like touch of pink because its 50% off or more and they don't charge tax (if you live in IL, you pay taxes) and there is free shipping on orders over $100.
Skincare:
I use the TimeWise Skincare line which has a 3-in-1 cleanser, day solution, night solution and moisturizer (it comes for normal-dry skin or combination to oily). I also use a blemish control toner to prevent any breakouts.
I hope this helps! Good Luck
you dont need overly expensize makeup use covergirl or avon or somthing like that. use black eyeliner on the bottom of your eyes %26amp; use mascara %26amp; then for eye shadow use a pink or purple or brown. if u dont want it to look dramatic then dont put it up to your eyebrow stay around the crease of your eye. hope i helped
If your skin is sensative, you might want to spend a little more on your foundations and stuff, just to make sure it won't clog your pores or irritate your skin. But eye makeup is as simple as picking out colors you like. I have everything from MAC, Sephora, and Benefit, to N.Y.C and Sally Girl... Try several kinds. You'll find a brand that suits you.
Are you a guy? Jw, because of your avatar. Ahaha.
I use Clinique. Its not very high end, but its high quality and is great for all skin types. If you want more information about high end makeup,
check out this girls youtube: secretr0ckstar
hope i helped!

Less expensive mineral makeup that works with acne
I was wondering if I could find a good mineral foundation or powder just at the drugstore. I don't have the money for bare minerals. I also have a few pimples here and there and some acne scars which product is best for coverage and not clogging pores? Less expensive mineral makeup that works with acne
Neutrogena has a lot I love them. I had bad acne and the neutrogena loose mineral powder is what my dermatologist told me to use. Its cheap too and they should sell it at all drug stores. Less expensive mineral makeup that works with acne
http://www.physiciansformula.com/staticpage/mineralwear.html
I have the same exact problems and I use this brand on of powder, foundation and blush and it works great! Just like any other mineral makeup, it's more pricey than regular but usually the powder is $12.00, the foundation is about the same and the blush is like $6.00. It lasts at least 3 months too, that's what I love about it! You can find them at any CVS, Walgreens or DrugMart. And they have sales a lot of times too, like buy one powder and get a free blush, which is what I usually do. Good luck!
loreal makes a great mineral makeup. mineral makeup is great if you have acne prone skin.
i agree with the first answerer

Expensive makeup?
I don't normally buy high end makeup but i was really happy with estee lauder because it matched my skin exactly and was light-weight. i tried ever drugstore brand and it was heavy and never matched. some of my friends think it's insane to spend 27-32$ on just foundation alone but my skin is extremely hard to match! i don't think i'm being a makeup snob because i think if it's going on your face for the whole day it should be really good because bad foundation can make your face worse and waste your money...
so i'm just wondering if anyone else feels that you can wear expensive foundation without being a makeup snob? do you think dept. store makeup is worth the price.Expensive makeup?
It's fine. Pick what you like and let your friends get what they like. Everyone's different and not one makeup is for everyone. Tell your friends not to worry about what you buy. It's your skin and your money.
I love Estee Lauder, by the way.Expensive makeup?
Mac makeup and stephora is pretty expensive Report Abuse
Nah, it's totally worth it. Foundation is an important makeup item as far as I'm concerned, and if you don't wear lot of makeup overall it's even more important that your skin look nice.
I coincidentally just spent 30 dollars on a great foundation.
It doesn't make you a snob!
My skin is really pale so it's hard to find a foundation that matches.
At first I was like ';30$?!';,
but now I'm so happy with it.
I don't think its anyones business..ya know? like, with foundation you need something that matches perfectly, and is good for your skin, hard to find with drugstore makeup. personally everything i use is department store quality, not drugstore, but i dont think thats snobby, its my personal preferance. if i felt that drugstores offered the same quality, i would shop there, but ya know what? i care about what i put on my face, or why wear anything at all. nothing but the best i say! =)
i like buying high end makeup even though it is expensive. to me it depends on the quality of the makeup not the cost. i would rather buy expensive quality makeup rather than crappy cheap drugstore makeup.
If you are over 18, then why do you care what your friends think. It is your money, you earned and you can spend it however you want. Makeup snob? It sounds to me like they are jealous. An adult wouldn't worry about how much their friends spend on makeup.
I spend about $40 on foundation, $20 on lip gloss and $40 on bronzer. My makeup stays on all day and my face never breaks out.
Really though, your friends are just jealous. Guaranteed, they would spend the money if they thought they could aford it.

Good skin or expensive makeup?
ladies...would you rather have really good skin or be able to get the best/expensive makeup for free...?Good skin or expensive makeup?
Really good skin. Not to brag- but I've been blessed with clear skin so I rarely ever wear makeup.Good skin or expensive makeup?
no doubt, GOOD SKIN!!!!
Good skin. I used to get the best makeup in the world free. I was a makeup artist for fashion shows. The best makeup in the world can't smooth wrinkles, you can cover a ';spot';; but, a bump is still there.
I would rather have really good skin. Why...because we are all going to age, and we will wish our skin looked ';younger';.
That depends. Will I have good skin that will age to wrinkled good skin? Because in that case, pass me the Shiseido.
No contest... I would rather have really good skin... because when you have really good skin you do not need any makeup, but if you have really bad skin, no amount of makeup can cover it all.
I happen to have good skin and get compliments quite a bit.... So I dont use any makeup except lipstick and gloss.
Good skin.
Good skin... duh, the best expensive makeup will not hide bad skin
Really good skin, because its most probable that if you have good skin you wont need that much make up.
i would prefere to have naturally good skin
make up sux....i dont use it
in fact it turns skin to crap so you have to use more
Was this a trick question.....?
really good skin i dont need make up to make me feel pretty.. go natural
definatly good skin!! With a nice complection you don't need a whole lot of expensive makeup!!
Good skin... then you don't need to wear make up.....
Have good skin.
great skin...flawless without all the garbage
Good skin. If I had good skin, I would need zero makeup :)

Is the most expensive makeup brands like Lancome, Estee Lauder, and Clinique really better than the drug store
brands or is that just in our heads??Is the most expensive makeup brands like Lancome, Estee Lauder, and Clinique really better than the drug store
some of it (eye liner, powder, liquid foundation) i've found are better than the general drug store stuff. It's got a better feel to it, covers better, and doesn't create skin problems. Things like mascara, I actually like the cheaper stuff (maybelline).
The biggest thing about more expensive brands is that it doesnt contain ';filler'; (stuff thats there just to take up space to make the bottle seem more full). Is the most expensive makeup brands like Lancome, Estee Lauder, and Clinique really better than the drug store
Yes! They use finer quality ingredients and the colour pigments they use in eyeshadows and lipsticks are better.
Obviuously most brands you are paying for the ';name'; as well, but most of the more expensive brands are far better quality.
They are better than what you can buy from the drug store, but it is not worth it until you are much older and have been wearing the same colors for years. The quality goes up quite a bit as the price does, but if you arent 100% sure what looks best on you yet, its best not to try and buy the expensive brands because the drug store ones arent bad at all.
The colors dont really chage that much, but with the price you are buying more color and less filler. The reason why much older women dont look good in cover girl and almay is because there is a lot of glitter and other fillers in their makeup, but when you get expensive makeup it has little to none unless you buy the shiny ones. The gittler they have is actual bits of glitter, not something that is mixed into a powder. Thats why younger girls look really good with cheap makeup.
yes it is. its not way better but it is a little better because the use special kinda of organic ingrideints to make it better!
I think some drug store brands work just as well, but in my opinion, the best is mac
n our heads
From years of trial and error across a wide range of brands....(some more expensive, some less expensive).
I prefer Clinique for sunscreen, powder (compact), and moisturizer. This brand is the only one I've found that doesn't irritate my skin (it's very sensitive).
Lancome for concealer and foundation. The colors match me the best, and the makeup blends well.
Every other type of make-up I use a variety of brands depending on what I see.
Rule of thumb (as with anything) you get what you pay for....
not always....sometimes, drug store brands are just as good...but for coverage and lasting effects, you would do better to buy higher quality and priced products....foundations and powders would be the most important, as they are made with finer ingredients and stay on the skin longer and usually have spf and retinols built in which means they are working for you as well as making you look better.....i find also, that most eye shadows go on better, stay on longer and have better color quality if they are from Lancome and Mac, they just have more pigments...so if you are worried about makeup lasting and looking very professional, buy the better products, otherwise stay in the drug store brands.
You get what you pay for.
Yes. they definitely differ. But again it doesn't mean that all of those brands would suit you. Try buying just one product from one brand to another to see whether it's for you.
yes
no...read the ingrediants on the expensive brands then the store brand if they are the same than the store brand than buy the store brand!!! =)
i have some almay now that i am using and i really think it is as good as the clinique i was using last year
If the truth was known by the general public, some of the cheaper brands are actually made by the top companies, but marketed as generic. That way, they get buyers from both ends of the spectrum: those who can afford the expensive brands and those who have to buy the lower-priced items. So don't be afraid of the lower priced make-up, it may be the exact same brand that poor little Paris uses!
Yes, better quality. Color matching. But you dont need to buy the whole line. Just a good foundation, lipstick, eye shadow and blush.
In all honesty i think all 'popular' make up is kind of not ok ....and i really see no real difference between the ones you buy at the drug stores and the more expensive ones ...however i do see a Huge difference between all of those and organic make up.
Unlike the non organicmake up,the organic make up does not help you get more wrinkles and does not poison your skin with over 150 'toxic' susbances.
they are better!!!
I can definitely tell a difference. I use both store brands and the more expensive kinds....the expensive kinds last longer and don't seem so oily. Plus the more expensive brands will let you test their products before you buy them and make sure the foundations/powders/etc. match your skin before you leave the store. They might cost a little more than say Cover Girl, but at least you don't have orange colored skin.
It depends on how it will works for you girls, you know what?.... when a girl asked me something, which is more effective??? these brands or brands in the drugstore???, I did tell her, i prefer to the drugstore, because it was prescribed by the doctors and if im not mistaken, it is much more cheaper than those.... but it really depends on how would you like the product...microsoft

Where is the best place to get good makeup that is not very expensive?
HERE ARE SOME GREAT SUGGESTIONS:
I consider myself to be great at shopping for and applying makeup. My makeup always looks great and I've gotten many compliments. What many people don't know is that I get all of it at GREAT prices.
Here are some of my tried and true suggestions:
www.eyeslipsface.com (everything's a dollar!! and it works great!)
www.avon.com (very high quality and constantly having sales)
Wet N' Wild cosmetics--available at Walmart, Target, K-mart, Shopko
NYC (New York Color)--also available at Walmart, Target, K-mart and Shopko.
Also, try www.walgreens.com. They have a brand called Tropez. It's great!
Good luck.Where is the best place to get good makeup that is not very expensive?
I agree with the ladies here. You have to either go to Sephora or Ulta. it's not cheap but you will be able to test items and get information from the consultants there. Once you know what you want then you can go to ebay and look up exactly what you need!!Where is the best place to get good makeup that is not very expensive?
Well...you could look on ebay. Just go to Sephora, it's worth the investment.
Believe it or not, Maybelline Cosmetics, sold at Target and most drugstores nationwide, works just as well as most of the expensive brands I have tried. Target has a very wide selection of different brands of makeup, and usually have most colors in stock. If you are african american, target also has a brand called Black Radiance, carrying foundation, concealers, and almost all types of makeup in colors suitable for darker skintones.
www.youravon.com/aalkifi
avon has the best makeup ever and body care and cheap prices
you should check it out and see for your self!!!!
Just like others I recommend Saphora for a variety of products and prices (higher end); however, if your definition of good makeup is not necessarily a high end makeup brand but a good quality and inexpensive brand I really suggest Loreal. Loreal is made by Lancome, which is a well known brand. I have used their mascara, lip gloss, and eye shadow and am very pleased with the quality.
I have to also add that I'm a sucker for designer brands from makeup to clothes, shoes, purses, etc. but in all honesty I am much happier with Loreal's Panoramic Curl $7 mascara than my YSL $30 that got from Nordstrom.
In department store brands I also recommend MAC, they're not cheap but still less expensive than some other brands. I don't like their Lipstick as it makes my lips dry. Clinique is another brand, but their colors are not as exciting as MAC's.
Good Makeup as in High End? You can try Ebay, or search the web~ Here's my friends store she sells makeup that is high end brands at a good price www.shopbearhugz.com Or check QVC they have some good deals on kits.
wal mart
Try Wal-Mart
I don't think the two are compatible but, then expensive is a relative term.
I have paid 30$ for mascara that is as effective as Maybelline's $4 mascara. Conversely, any product that covers your skin should be purchased according to the ingredients of the product and its effect on the vulnerable areas of your face.
Creams are better than lotions, thus more expensive but also longer lasting. Lotions contain alcohol, which is necessary to keep the lotion fluid but harsh on delicate skin.
Take care of your skin, spend what you must, but take care of your skin. It will tell all about you as you age. Skimp on nylons or manicures or lipstick or hair products but don't skimp on products for your skin. You will never regret themoney you spend on facial products.
well call me cheap but i go to wallgreens cause they have cheap makeup [$$wise] but it is really good quality..
I like it
Sephora has a great selection at all price ranges ;)
